What are "Soft Skills?"

 

  • The social or "people skills" needed in the workplace to professionally deal with difficult persons and situations.
     

  • Supervisors with honed "soft skills" are essential as a first line of defense against workplace lawsuits and high turnover costs.
     

  • Because not all supervisors are blessed with natural people skills some have renamed soft skills "hard skills" because it refers to a skill that must be practiced consistently to be effective.
